Output to a Printer
For ordinary printing, select the default output type and supply the operating-system printer name with PrinterName. This uses Windows printing on Windows and CUPS on Linux/UNIX. The following fragment assumes an initialized job or native instance. Replace YOUR_PRINTER_NAME with an installed printer or queue name.
printJob.PrinterType = PrinterType_Default
printJob.PrinterName = "YOUR_PRINTER_NAME"
' Optional on Windows: set the title shown in the print queue.
printJob.OutputName = "Order-4711"
To use the operating system's default printer, set PrinterName to an empty string ("") instead.
Direct ZPL or PostScript Output
To send printer-language output directly, pass a prefix and printer name to PrinterName:
ZPLPRINTER:ZEBRA4Msends ZPL to the printer namedZEBRA4M(Windows only).PSPRINTER:HP4050PSsends PostScript to the printer namedHP4050PS.
Alternatively, select the ZPL printer or PostScript printer type with PrinterType and supply the printer name without a prefix. The printer must support the selected language. On Windows, you can use a generic text-only printer driver. If you mix both selection methods, see Combining Output Settings.
For the complete prefix list, see Output Format Prefix Reference.
Windows Print Job Names
For Windows printer output, OutputName can optionally set the title shown in the print queue. It does not select a printer or create a file. Use a plain title such as Order-4711: the SDK removes any path and filename extension when deriving this title.
Print to a File through a Windows Printer Driver
Use the print-to-file output option to save the selected Windows printer driver's output to a file. Specify the filename through this option, not through OutputName, which remains the print-job title. See Output Options for details.
